New in Nallagandla. Would parents want a short morning reading hour for kids before schools reopen?

I'm a primary teacher and we moved from Pune last week for my husband's job. I'm applying to schools here but it seems nothing moves until June, so I have free mornings and I miss being with children. I was thinking of one hour every morning in our society clubhouse for 5 to 9 year olds, story reading and simple phonics games, only till schools reopen. Should I keep it free or take a small fee? And would parents send children for something this short, with many families still travelling?

My son is too young for this, but I'd sign him up in a heartbeat if he were five. Two practical things from watching our own society: get the association's permission for the clubhouse in writing, and charge something small. Free sessions get treated as optional and half the children vanish by day three.

Fellow Punekar here (Viman Nagar, so this felt like news from home, ha). Charging is right. Two friends ran summer art mornings in our building, one paid and one free. The paid one ran full. The free one fizzled in a week. All the best with the move, and with the job hunt!

Small fee, yes. And put a notice in the lift, not only the WhatsApp group. Half our building never opens the group.
