We had this with our son last year. When I asked the daycare how they serve it, it turned out they give the rice only slightly warm and much drier than ours, almost rolled into small balls. At home ours was soupier. Changing the texture fixed about half of it. The other half was that he was simply less hungry at dinner after a late snack.
