Nausea on 9 am client calls and nobody at work knows yet

mint_compass_9765

Early days, and only family knows. The nausea is worst between 8 and 11, which is exactly when my regional client calls are. Camera on, presenting, trying not to look green. Yesterday I muted and stepped away twice in one call. How did you get through this stretch at work before telling anyone? ❤️

Ginger candy ordered. The connection excuse is tempting, I've used it once already this week.

From the other side of those calls: I chair a fair number of them, and nobody notices a camera being off for a few weeks. What people do notice is someone going quiet without explanation. 'Not feeling well, keeping my camera off today' is enough, and nobody follows up.

I moved what I could to after 11. Didn't explain, just said I had a standing commitment in the mornings. Most clients didn't care as long as the call happened. It wasn't possible for all of them, but even two fewer early calls a week made a difference.

I did tell my manager early, only my manager, and asked her to keep it to herself. It made the rescheduling much easier because I didn't have to invent reasons every time. Depends a lot on the manager, of course.
