My mother and our caregiver now hand over the baby with a burp count

fig_violin_701

Mornings are our caregiver, afternoons my mother. I suggested a small notebook so they could note feeds and naps. Three weeks later it has columns for burps, 'good' burps, and a mood rating out of five. Yesterday's entry from my mother: '3 burps, one very loud, she was proud'. She's three months old. She's being assessed more carefully than I ever was.

Keep it going. With our son nobody wrote anything down and every evening started with an argument about when he last fed.

My mother kept something like this for my daughter. Found it in a cupboard last year, she's 22 now. One entry just says 'big burp, very satisfied, slept'. We read it out at dinner 😂

'Very satisfied' is going in as the top grade on our scale.

Is it on paper or a phone note? We tried a shared note on the phone with our caregiver and it was abandoned within a week. A sheet on the fridge has lasted two years.

I am the grandmother in a house like this, for my grandson. We also read each other's notes and correct them quietly. Tell your mother she is doing well. The columns are a teacher's habit, I have them also.
