My 7 year old has been worried about floods since he saw the news

He saw pictures of flooded roads on the TV news at breakfast last week. Since then he asks every evening if our building will flood, whether the school van can swim, and where we will sleep if water comes in. We're on the fourth floor. I've told him that. It doesn't help, he just asks again the next day. At work I'd know what to say to someone else's child. With my own I keep over-explaining. What has worked for you?

Easier said. Ours hear it on the van driver's radio and from older kids in the school bus line. You can't switch off everything.

      Replying to @plum_camera_1190

or watch it with him and show him on a map where it flooded and where you live. worked for my daughter at that age, mostly. she still checks the rain apps but she stopped asking where we'd sleep
