My 16 year old wants to be paid for minding her little sister on Saturdays

coral_wave_5498

I have school events most Saturdays. Our caregiver doesn't work weekends. The elder one has been looking after the 5 year old for a few hours each time, and this week she presented a rate. Part of me thinks family doesn't invoice family. Part of me thinks it's fair, she's giving up her Saturday. Undecided. What do others do?

My daughter is 13 and she looks after her little brother on Sundays when I am at the site. We don't pay her by the hour. At month end she gets a little extra pocket money and she chooses Sunday dinner. Paise se zyada usko yeh achha lagta hai ki ghar mein usko bada samjha jaata hai.

I think it's fair. Babysitting is real work, ask any of us who did it at that age 🙂 Bas, agree on what's included. Bath and dinner? Or only 'being in the house'? Otherwise the rate goes up every week.
