My 12 year old's feet overtook mine this summer. My new walking shoes are now 'ours'

velvet_lantern_7540

Bought myself proper walking shoes in August, following the advice I give every patient over fifty. Last week they went missing. Found them on my son, who says they fit perfectly and that he wore them to football only 'once'. He is 12. In June his feet were comfortably smaller than mine. My partner says I should take it as a compliment. I have gone back to my old pair.

Happens with daughters too, only it's my good kurtas and dupattas 🙂 She's stopped asking. Things just disappear, and sometimes come back washed.

football 'once'. check the soles. that's where the truth is.

Wait for the next stage. Our son is now two sizes bigger than anyone else in the house, and the borrowing has reversed. We all try his trainers on when he's out.

We bought his school shoes in June and they were tight by August. I've given up buying the size that fits. It's always one size up now.

mine borrowed my cricket pads at that age and never gave them back. they're still in his cupboard. not sure he even plays any more.

Ayyo, the walking shoes. Those are sacred. Our daughter took my running shoes for a school trek and returned them with half the hill still on them 🙂

Buy him his own pair before he gets serious about football, otherwise you'll be walking in his old school shoes by December.

Or buy two of the same pair and stop keeping track. That's what we ended up doing with sandals once my older one and I became the same size.
