Moved near Shamirpet recently. Son needs a class 1 seat and schools open next week

We came from Bhubaneswar for my husband's job in Genome Valley. My son finished UKG there. Here I don't know which schools near Shamirpet will take him in class 1 now, so late. Main worry is language. At home we speak Odia and some Hindi. He knows no Telugu. I want a school where Hindi can be the second language, or at least where they help children from other states. How to start? Do I go to the schools directly, or is there some online form?

Going directly is usually fastest at this time of year. Call or visit each school, ask if they have a class 1 seat, and ask specifically how they handle Telugu for a child from another state. The answers will vary. Ask for their document list too, so you can carry his birth certificate and whatever report or transfer letter his old school gave you.

Welcome! Here in Bengaluru many families from the north have the same question with Kannada. Children his age pick up the spoken language faster than we do. Haan, writing takes longer. Don't let it be the only thing you choose on.

Agree about the spoken part. Our son hears Telugu at daycare all day and already understands more of it than I expected. For the school list, a Hindi-speaking parents' group on the Kompally or Shamirpet side might know which schools still have seats this late.

One practical thing: write down what each school tells you about timings, transport and the second language on the same page, right after each visit. After four schools in one week they blur together, and the office won't always repeat it the same way.
