Looking at flats near Academic Heights Public School in Kukatpally. How do class 7 joiners settle there?

Our lease in Kokapet ends in July and the renewal number made us look elsewhere. A couple of buildings we liked in Kukatpally are near Academic Heights, so our 12 year old would be a class 7 joiner there if we move. Anyone with kids there or living close by: how new kids in the middle classes settle in, how heavy the evenings are with homework, and how bad the traffic gets around school time. He isn't thrilled about changing schools, so I'd like the details right before we try to sell it to him :)

We live in Kukatpally and visited this school for our son's nursery last year, so I can speak to a visit, not the middle classes. On traffic: school-hour congestion on the inner roads here is the same around every school, so it comes down to the exact building. Which ones are you looking at? Distance by road matters more than distance on the map.

I am in KPHB, so close by, though my children are not at this school. On settling in class 7, what I have seen with my daughter's friends is that the first month is about finding a group. Some schools put all new joiners in one section, which keeps them together but can make mixing slower. Ask how they place new students. Does your son play a sport? That has been the quickest way in for every new child I have seen.

Ask which books they use for class 7 besides NCERT. Extra workbooks are usually where the evening homework comes from.

no idea about the school but the rent difference between kokapet and kukatpally is real, we checked last year. ask the neighbours about water in those buildings before signing anything

teacher here, different school. class 7 is a decent year to move in my experience, 8 and 9 get heavier everywhere. most joiners i've taught found their feet by the first unit test

our daughter's best friend joined her class in 7th from another city. took about a month before she stopped comparing everything to the old school. so expect the comparison phase and don't argue with it
