How did you compare total weekly hours across coaching options

maple_spoon_1856

We are being sold a long coaching package for our 16 year old. Every centre quotes a monthly fee. None of them will give a straight number for total hours a week once you add tests, doubt sessions and travel. Flexible is the word they keep using. If you compared options, how did you get the real weekly figure? Sample timetable, or worked out from what your child actually attended?

We asked two centres for last month's actual timetable of a current batch, not the planned one. One gave it, the other said it varies. The one that gave it looked heavier on paper, but at least we knew. We still have not decided, because the lighter option may simply be the one that hides its hours.

My worry when my son was in 11th was the travel, which no centre counts. We added it up for one month and it came to more hours than one of his subjects. That alone changed our choice.

Travel is the part I haven't counted. Did you track it for the actual month or estimate it?

Ask what happens in the second year if your daughter wants to drop a subject or cut down days. We were told it was possible, but only when we asked for it in writing did it become clear the fee stays the same. That told me more about the commitment than the hours did.
