Class 2 parents are collecting signatures to have one boy moved out of the section. I don't want to sign

A message went round the parents' group yesterday. A boy in my son's class has had some difficult days, shouting, and once throwing a pencil box, and a few parents have drafted a letter asking the school to move him to another section 'for the sake of the class'. Eleven names so far. My son likes him. He tells me the boy has a helper with him some days and that he's funny. I don't know the full picture, and I'm aware that if my son had been hurt I might feel differently. But I'm not comfortable putting my name to a letter about a seven year old. Is there anything sensible to do beyond simply not signing?

Not signing is already something. If you want to do more, write to the class teacher privately: say you've seen the letter, that your son gets on well with him, and that you'd rather hear from the school than the group if there's a real problem. Teachers notice which parents do that.

My son is only 2, but if that was him in some years, I would want one parent to write like this. Even one.

      Replying to @fennel_basket_9157

That is what tipped it for me. I wrote to the teacher this evening, briefly, and didn't name any of the other parents.

'Some difficult days' and 'once threw a pencil box' is a thin case for a petition. Has anyone asked the school what support he already has, or is the group deciding on hearsay? Ask that in the group. It tends to slow things down.
