class 12 son does all his revision on a tablet. am i being old-fashioned?

pdf notes, recorded lectures at 1.5x, flashcards on an app, practice papers on screen. the only paper in his room is the board exam timetable on the wall. his unit test marks are fine, so i don't have much of an argument. it's just that he's on it from 6 to midnight with breaks, and i can't tell which parts are studying. maybe that's my problem, not his

My girl is 10, and every year her spectacle number goes up. Doctor told us less screen and more time outside, and to look away from the screen often. I don't know about class 12 studies, but please get his eyes checked once. With children we notice late.

What exactly are you worried about? Marks are fine. If it's his eyes, get them tested. If it's distraction, ask him to show you one evening of what he does. 'Can't tell which parts are studying' is a guess until you look.

Mine is in grade 2 and already wants the tablet for 'research'. Reading this like a trailer for my future

At grade 2 the school sets more of that than you might think. Ask the teacher which tasks really need a screen. For us it turned out to be one a week. The rest had become a habit at home.
