Class 11 daughter has decided on law. Does CLAT coaching really start this early?

She's in class 11, ISC, humanities. Over the summer she read a couple of books about courtroom cases and came back certain. Fine by me. What surprised me is that three of her classmates joined weekend CLAT coaching in April, and now she's worried she's behind. I know nothing about this route. Is two years of coaching normal, or is a focused year in class 12 enough? And do law schools look at anything besides the entrance rank?

Nobody in our family has studied law, so I can't say about coaching. But one of my shop customers has a daughter doing law here after 12th, and she says the entrance is mostly English and reasoning, not like EAMCET. Maybe your daughter can talk to students who are in the course now.

A few of my colleagues' children went this way. The ones who did well read a newspaper properly every day from class 11, coaching or not. One year of coaching was enough for most of them.

What I know: the entrance is the main gate for the national law schools. What I've only heard: that two-year programmes are largely the same material spread thinner. If she's already anxious about being behind, one full mock paper at home would tell you more than her classmates' choices.

Two years behind you here: our 14 year old keeps saying humanities. Good to see a class 11 kid picking it with a plan.
