2on Blue streak in her hair over the Diwali break. Our 14 year old has made her case
At 15 I put henna in my hair at my mashi's place before a wedding and it came out bright orange. My mother was furious for a day and then it became a family joke for years. If the handbook really says nothing, I'd let her try it once. The fading stage is its own lesson.
4on What house rules still apply to a 22 year old living at home?
When I moved back in with my parents in my twenties, Ma never set a time. She would just sit up on the sofa with the TV on mute until I came in. It worked better than any rule, because I hated making her wait. Not recommending it, only saying the guilt route exists 😅
6on Van drops my son at school 35 minutes before the first bell. What do they do till then?
Same with my nephew's school here. One email asking who supervises early arrivals got a clear answer and a teacher's name. That was enough for his parents and for me. It didn't need to be a complaint.
0on 10 yr old has started knocking before he comes into our room
My nephew did this at my place too, and then I noticed he only knocked when he wanted something. Two knocks meant he needed money for the canteen. Watch for a pattern before you get sentimental.
1on 15 year old niece is staying for two weeks, and the 9 year old now wants her bedtime
The torch idea is good. As an aunt doing the same job, I'd add one thing: ask your niece's parents what her rules are at home and say those out loud. Then the 15 year old is following her own parents' rule, not yours, and the 9 year old sees that each child's rules come from that child's parents. Saves you being the bad guy in both directions.
