0on My 2 year old found his own Saturday company, a retired uncle on the colony park bench
Lovely. One small practical thought: it may be worth chatting with the uncle himself at some point, just so he knows he's free to say no on mornings he wants his own quiet. Older neighbours are often too polite to say it. Our daughter had a similar friendship with an elderly lady in our building when she was little, and it lasted years because the adults kept it easy for both of them.
3on Would Geethanjali Vidyalaya in Saroornagar take a student volunteer for reading sessions?
I'd start with her coordinator. When students from outside have done projects in my school, the request came on the other school's letterhead with the dates, the activity and the name of a supervising adult. That made it easy for our principal to say yes. Also be ready for them to want a teacher in the room, or to fit it into an existing period rather than Saturday. Schools are careful about outsiders with younger children, which is reasonable.
0on She won't move up to the advanced swim group because her friend isn't moving
The advanced group is the next lane, same time, which made it easier. The coach suggested she swims with them on Saturdays only for now. She agreed, on the condition that her friend watches. Fine by me.
One more thing worth asking when you do get through: what language the nursery teacher mostly uses with the children. For our daughter it mattered more than anything in the brochure, because she had only heard Telugu at home until then.
One more thing to ask: which second language they teach and whether it continues to class 7. With an exit at 7, children sometimes arrive at their next school with a language that school doesn't offer. We see this every year with joiners where I teach, and it's harder to fix at 12 than people expect.
