Zero period at 7.15 for class 9, and his tuition ends at 9 pm

hazel_river_4875

From this month my son's school has started a zero period for class 9, three days a week. He has to be at the bus stop at 6.35. His tuition, which he goes to with his friends, ends at 9, so dinner is close to 9.45 and he is not asleep before 11. He is not complaining much, which almost worries me more. He just looks grey by Thursday. I am trying to work out whether to change something on our side or wait and see if the school adjusts it.

We have a class 9 daughter too. We stopped looking at any single night and started counting her total sleep across the week. A 30 minute nap straight after school on zero-period days has helped her more than we expected.

Did the nap not push her bedtime later? With my son, an afternoon nap meant he was wide awake till midnight. We had to stop it.

Is the zero period compulsory, or one of those "recommended" ones? Our school's notices for my son's class say recommended and mean compulsory, so I always ask 🙂

my daughter had something similar in class 10. we moved one tuition day to a weekend morning and that gave her one early night in the week. small thing but it helped

Weekend mornings are not possible, his tuition batch is fixed and he wants to stay with his friends. I will ask whether he can skip one weekday when there is a zero period. At least that gives him two shorter evenings.

Same thing happened at my daughter's school last year. After three, four weeks the school itself reduced it to twice a week, too many kids were sleeping in second period. Raise it at the PTM, they do listen if many parents say it. Beta ka health first.
