When do class 1 admissions for next June actually open? Partner wants us to at least look at CBSE

Our daughter has one year of IB kindergarten left. We'd always assumed she'd just carry on there, but my partner wants us to see a couple of CBSE schools for class 1 before we decide, mostly thinking about the long run and what happens after 10. Reasonable. Problem is I have no idea of the timeline. Some parents in her class say forms come out in October, one said she'd already 'registered interest' somewhere. Kab se shuru hota hai yeh sab? I'd rather see three schools calmly than ten in a panic in November 🙂

    For our elder daughter it was late in the year: most forms came out in the last three months of the year for the next June, and a couple of schools opened earlier and filled earlier. The early ones don't always announce it widely, so the 'registered interest' parent may not be wrong. The trade-off I didn't expect: going early meant deciding before we knew which other schools would even have seats.

    'Some parents say October' is how every admissions rumour starts. Call the schools on your list and ask for the date. Ten minutes each, and you'll have real dates instead of group-chat dates.

      Haha fair, the group chat is half the problem. Will call them this week. Though calling it a shortlist is generous right now, abhi it's two schools and a feeling.

    make your non-negotiables list before you visit anything. distance, timings, board, whatever matters to you two. otherwise every school's library looks like the deciding factor and you end up choosing on carpets
