What filling, non-fried snack do you keep in the car for school pickup?

I do the school pickup. Every day my daughter walks out, says she is dying of hunger, and wants to stop at the bakery near the gate for chips or a puff. The lunch box comes back mostly empty, so she is eating it. My partner packs a proper lunch. The issue is that lunch is at 11.30 and pickup is at 4. I would rather keep something filling in the car than have the same negotiation at the gate every day. What do your 12-13 year olds eat at that hour?

Lunch at 11.30 and nothing till 4 is a long gap at that age, so the hunger is real. Is there a short break in between where she could eat a fruit? That might be simpler than solving it in the car.

boiled peanuts with salt and lemon in a steel box. my two girls still eat it in the car, and they're older. roasted chana and a banana also work. cheap and nobody fights over it 🤷
