Two-page handover doc for my partner before a 3 day trip. It's our pregnancy, not a project

fern_diary_4646

Regional client meetings next week, three days away. Sat down to list what needs to happen while I'm gone and it's two pages. The stroller delivery, the hospital pre-registration form that's due, his mother's question about the dohale jevan date, the next scan slot which opens on Monday He comes to every appointment and is great in the room. But everything around the appointments lives in my head and now in a doc 🤷 I don't want this to be a one-time handover where it all comes back to me on Friday. Anyone managed to make the split stick after something like this

Use the trip as the start rather than as temporary cover. Hand over whole areas, not tasks. If he books this scan, he books all of them from now on; if he fills the hospital form, the hospital is his, including remembering what to carry. The hard part for me, years ago, was not checking up on it afterwards. Does he keep a calendar at work? If he does, it might help to ask him to run this the way he would run a project there.

A shared calendar helped us, but only once he was the one adding the entries. When I added them, he dismissed the alerts like spam.

As a husband who once received a handover note very much like this: it worked perfectly for the days my partner was away, and then I handed everything back without even noticing. What stuck was taking one whole area permanently. For us it was all the appointments and paperwork for our first child after the birth, reminders and bookings included. One area, mine from start to end, and my partner stopped having to think about it. Would he agree to keep one or two items from the doc for good, rather than returning the whole thing on Friday?
