Two activities are fine until both have Saturday practice

The timetable looked easy when we enrolled. Now both activities keep offering optional weekend practice, and each one sounds useful. My child enjoys them but is also asking for an entire morning with nothing booked. I'm leaning towards protecting that space. Has anyone handled this without making the child choose a forever-favourite?

I'd say no to one additional practice this month and see whether anything important is actually missed. Optional should be allowed to mean optional.

Good reminder. We've been treating every invitation like a test.

The quiet weekend matters in our house too. The difficult part was admitting that rest was also a choice.

The quiet morning probably deserves to be protected without having to justify it as another activity.

Maybe ask which activity they miss when it's cancelled. Sometimes that tells you more than asking them to rank two things.

That is a better question than 'which do you like more?'
