Drawing outside without losing half the crayons

My preschooler likes making marks outdoors but we keep dropping crayons between benches and paving stones. I'm trying to take one tiny activity kit rather than a giant bag. Any suggestions for a setup that's easy to carry home?

Chunky washable crayons and one board might be plenty.

An old pencil case can contain the items without creating a new storage project.
