Tuition centre's free maths test says my class 6 daughter is two years behind. Her school report says she's fine

A tuition centre near us offered a free maths assessment during the holidays, and my daughter wanted to try it. The report came back yesterday: 'working two grade levels below expected' in reasoning and number sense, with a recommended programme. Her school report has been consistently good, and her teacher has never raised anything. I can see two possibilities. Either the school's assessments are easy, or the centre's test is designed to find gaps. I don't know how to tell which one it is, and I don't want to ignore a real problem because the messenger has something to sell.

We had a similar 'assessment' at a centre in Kukatpally for our son a couple of years ago. When I asked to see the paper itself, a third of it covered topics he had not been taught yet in his syllabus. Did they give you the question paper, or only the report?

a test designed to find gaps will find gaps. ours told us our class 1 daughter was behind in 'logical reasoning'. she was six.

i see these reports come in from parents at work sometimes. the first thing i ask is which grade level they're measuring against, because it's rarely the board the child is studying in. a lot of it is pitched at a different syllabus.
