Son's friend comes home with him every day after school now. Do I call his mother?

Started two weeks ago. Same building, different block. He walks in with my son at 3.45, they do homework (sort of), eat whatever is around, and he leaves when his mother gets back around 7. Our caregiver is fine with it and the boys are clearly happy. I've never met his mother. I don't mind the arrangement, I just don't know if she knows it is one. Or if she thinks he's at a tuition 🤷 How would you raise it without sounding like a complaint?

Mine is still a baby, so I'm answering as a working mother rather than from experience. If my child were spending three hours a day at a neighbour's, I would want a message and I'd be grateful, not offended. Something simple works: 'Your son's been coming over after school, happy to have him, just wanted you to have my number.' It also gives her the chance to say thank you, or to tell you something you ought to know, like an allergy.
