Son's family may rent in Attapur next year. How is SR Digi School there for a class 4 joiner?

My son and daughter-in-law are looking at flats in Attapur, closer to my son's office. Nothing is final. Our grandson finished class 3 near our place in Nizampet and would start class 4 next June wherever they end up. SR Digi School is close to one of the flats they liked. The decision is theirs, but I like to ask around. Two questions. Is it easy for a new child to get a class 4 seat there? And is there a proper ground where the boys play? He bats with me every evening and will not be happy without one.

We're in Narsingi and have been going round schools on that side for our son's nursery, so my knowledge stops at the enquiry stage. A couple of offices we visited would not talk about seats in the higher classes until much later in the year, and they wanted the current report card in hand. Better to go in person than to phone. Good luck to them with the flat ❤️

  • On the seat question, class 4 joiners are more common than people fear. When our son was in primary, his class took in three or four new children almost every year, from moves and transfers. The ones who settled fastest were the ones who joined a sport or a club in the first month, so your cricket point is a good one.

Before the school, I'd pin down the flat. 'Close to one of the flats' can mean a five-minute walk or a twenty-minute U-turn. Once they have an address, ask the school which areas its vans cover. That narrows things faster than reviews do.

  • Class 4 is not a bad year to switch. Kids that age seem to get used to new books faster than to a new set of friends, at least going by the new children who joined my older one's class. If the parents do a school visit, take him along so the place isn't a total stranger in June.

On the ground: when they visit, ask how many games periods class 4 gets in a week and go and look at the ground during one. A ground in the brochure and a ground the children are let onto are two different things. Separately, find out what time the van would pick him up from that flat. A long ride every morning matters more at 9 than people expect.

Agree on the van timing. Our son's pickup moved to 6.50 when the route was redrawn this June, and for the first month he was half asleep in class. Ask for the time at that specific stop, not the school's start time.
