Son taught his aaji voice typing. Now she messages him from the next room

It started as something to do on a hot afternoon. Now every message arrives in full Marathi sentences, and sometimes she says the punctuation out loud, so it gets typed as words. Today's: 'lunch is ready come now full stop'. He replied with a thumbs up. From eight metres away.

My father-in-law went through this phase and then discovered voice notes. Three-minute voice notes. Enjoy the typing stage while it lasts ❤️

Three minutes is a short one. My mother's go to seven, and the actual point is in the last ten seconds.

      Replying to @jade_badminton_4919

At least a voice note keeps her tone. My mother types, and every message reads like a complaint, even when it's an invitation for dosa.

Wait till she finds out she can do it in the car. My mother dictates shopping lists to me while my father drives, and he corrects her over the top. Both versions get typed.

the full stop typed out is my favourite part. my mother ends every message with 'ok bye', typed, even in the middle of a conversation.

Eight metres is generous. My partner messages me from the other end of the same sofa to ask what I'm watching.
