Somewhere to go on Saturday mornings with a 14 year old, now that the baby runs the house

maple_trail_727

Since our daughter arrived, my son and I have lost the time we used to have together. Weekends revolve around her naps, and he has drifted into his room. I would like one fixed Saturday morning outing with him, two or three hours, before it gets too hot. He likes cycling, food and anything with a scoreboard. He does not like 'nature walks', his words. We're in Gachibowli but happy to drive. Suggestions?

With two teenagers and my shifts, the one outing that has lasted for us is a 6.30 badminton court booking with breakfast afterwards. The court gives you a scoreboard; the breakfast is why they turn up. Book it a few weeks ahead, otherwise it gets dropped the first lazy Saturday.

Seconding the cycling track, it's very close to you. Go before 7 though, it gets warm quickly now. My son and I went once in March and he's been asking to go back since. It's lovely that you're making this time for him ❤️

If he likes keeping score, try a bowling alley right at opening time on a Saturday. It's nearly empty, and you can keep a running total for the month. Breakfast in the old city afterwards, if you don't mind the drive.

speaking as the person at home with the baby: please take him out. the house will survive three hours without you. so will the baby
