Sibling of a current student, and still on the LKG waitlist in the last week of May

Our daughter has been at the school since nursery. We applied for our son's LKG in December, went for the interaction, ticked the sibling box. Today's call: he's on the waitlist, his 'position will be confirmed', and they'll let us know 'before reopening'. Reopening is about three weeks away. We have a backup preschool holding a place till Friday, and they want a decision. If you've been on a school waitlist this close to June, did it move? And did anyone get a straight answer about where they were on the list?

Not a school, but our daycare waitlist did exactly this. 'Before reopening' meant the Friday before. We kept the backup and lost a small deposit. Annoying, but we'd do it again ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

from inside a school: waitlists really do move in the last two weeks, because families holding two seats finally let one go. but nobody in the office will give you a number, partly because they don't know it either. keep the backup

Ask to speak to the principal rather than the admissions desk. Sibling cases sometimes get another look once someone senior sees them. It worked for a friend in Noida. No promises.

'Position will be confirmed' is such a school phrase 😂 Did they at least say whether siblings are ahead of new families on the list?

Worth asking. When we applied for pre-nursery, the school told us siblings were considered first but not guaranteed a place.

      Replying to @moss_kettle_1251

asked. the answer was 'siblings are given due consideration'. so, no. we're paying the backup tomorrow. if the call comes in june, we'll deal with it then
