School keeps sending forms back because the signature is mine, and I'm her brother

My sister is in class 10 and I handle most of her school matters, since our parents can't come in on weekdays. The school has my name on file as her guardian. Even so, two forms this month have come back with a note asking for a 'parent signature', one for a field trip and one for a sports permission. I'm not trying to go around our parents. They're happy to sign when they can, but it means posting papers or waiting a week. Has anyone in a similar arrangement got the school to accept a guardian signature as standard? Was there a particular letter or form that settled it?

Not the same situation but my sister-in-law signs for my girls when I'm travelling and nobody has said a word. Maybe depends on the teacher? Ask the office, not the class teacher 😅

Please get it in writing once, from the office. My cousin's son stayed with her for three years for school, and she had a signed letter from his parents saying she could sign for everything. That letter is the only thing that stopped the back and forth.

Speaking from the school side: very often the class teacher just doesn't know a guardian is registered. The admin record and the class teacher's list aren't always the same. Ask the office to send the class teacher a note, and keep a copy of whatever authorisation your parents gave at admission.

I was a teacher for many years in Varanasi. In our school, if the parents gave one letter naming the guardian, with their signatures and a copy of ID, we accepted the guardian's signature for the whole year. The office kept it in the student's file. Ask your school if they will do the same. Beta, it is good that you are looking after your sister's studies.
