School bus tracking app wants access to contacts and files. Did anyone say no?

Son's school has moved bus tracking to a new app this term. On install it asks for location, contacts, photos and files, and notifications. Location I understand. I can't see why a bus tracker needs my contact list or my photos. I deal with this sort of thing at work, so maybe I'm more twitchy than most, but I'm curious whether others just tapped allow on everything, or whether the app works fine if you deny the rest.

    different school but same kind of app. denied contacts and photos, location only while using. tracking works fine, only the 'share trip' button complains

    i tapped allow on everything without reading. checking now

    Ask the school, in writing, which permissions the vendor says are required. Quite often the school doesn't know and nobody has asked. If enough parents ask, the next update tends to drop the extras quietly.

    Read this at breakfast and went straight to settings. It had my contacts and my calendar. Turned both off, bus still shows up on the map. Thanks for ruining my Sunday morning 😄

      Same, just checked mine. Calendar access for a bus app, enna logic 🙂 Turned it off.
