Sat through a full morning of sessions with a pink butterfly clip in my hair

banyan_diary_7190

Our two year old was 'doing my hair' at breakfast while I answered messages. I left for work, saw four people back to back, and only found the clip when I went to wash my hands at lunch. Bright pink, glitter, a butterfly. Not one person mentioned it. I have no idea whether that's professionalism or pity. When I got home she checked my head, found it gone and asked where it went, very seriously.

Keep it in the bag. Mine did a 'hairstyle' on me at that age and I've been the class teacher with two tiny clips at least twice. The kids in my class noticed in about four seconds, so you got off lightly.

      Replying to @ochre_pool_755

A classroom is a much harsher audience than a clinic, I believe that completely.

Update for anyone keeping track. Yesterday she did my hair again before I left for work. Two clips this time, a star and a strawberry, and she told me they were 'for work'. I've kept them in. One person asked.

Arre, the not mentioning is the best part. Everyone just quietly decided it was a style choice. I once went to a client review with a Hot Wheels car in my shirt pocket, and the client asked if I could get him one for his son.

In fairness to your patients, I think most people assume there is a story behind anything that unusual and decide it isn't their business. I would have assumed a child was involved. I would also have been a little reassured.

Filing this away. Mine is a month old, so no hair styling yet, but I've already gone to the door for a delivery with a burp cloth on each shoulder.
