Rostered on the Saturday of her class 2 PTM. Is it odd to send her grandfather?

PTM is this Saturday. I'm on the day shift and my partner has a work commitment that can't move. My father is happy to go, he does her pickup on some days anyway. Will the teacher talk properly to a grandparent, or will it end at "she is doing fine"?

Not odd at all. I teach the senior classes, and even there a grandparent sometimes comes in place of the parents. Nobody minds. What helps is sending him with three written questions so it doesn't stop at "doing fine". Reading, maths, how she is with friends, or whatever you're really wondering about. Then ask the teacher if you can have a short call the following week. Most of us would say yes ❤

my son's grandmother went to his ptm once when we were both stuck. she came back with more detail than either of us ever had. she asked about lunch, who he sits with, which friend he fights with. teachers seemed to enjoy her

Last year my daughter's UKG meeting clashed for both of us. I wrote to the teacher and asked for a ten minute phone call instead, and she agreed without any fuss. The call turned out more useful than the meeting would have been, because there was no queue behind me. Does your school give individual time slots, or is it an open-house format?
