Practice is enjoyable but travel makes bedtime late

My child comes home happy from an evening activity, then bedtime slides later because of the return journey and dinner. I don't want to turn every enjoyable thing into a problem. How have you tested whether the routine is sustainable?

How the child feels the following morning is a practical clue. A late arrival that seems fine once may not work every week.

A lighter dinner plan on practice days may help without changing the activity.

If we change the dinner timing, we can test the activity without losing sleep.

Look at the next morning, not just how the child feels on activity night.
