Partner's back aches every night now. Is a pregnancy pillow worth it, or do regular pillows do the job?

lemon_drum_4414

My partner has started waking two or three times a night with lower back pain. She builds a wall of our normal pillows behind her and one in front, and by morning they're all on the floor. The big C-shaped and U-shaped pregnancy pillows are everywhere online. They take up half the bed and aren't cheap. Did one help you, or did you end up back with ordinary pillows? Our bed is a queen and I'd like to keep a corner of it.

ortho here, for what it's worth. a firm pillow between the knees did more for my back than the big U one. the U got used for three weeks and then lived in the cupboard 😂 if the pain starts going down a leg, mention it at her next appointment

  • How many pillows is she using now, and where? I had one long body pillow, not the U. With the U you can't turn over without a wrestling match. Buy the cheaper long one first and see if that's enough.

The long one is what I'm using this time too. With my son I bought the U and my partner spent the last two months on the divan in the hall. This time everyone stays in the bedroom.

had the c shaped one. loved it for the last few months and then used it as a feeding pillow after, so it earned its money. get one with a zip off cover, you'll be washing it more than you think
