Partner works Saturdays, I don't. Saturday alone with our son has become my favourite day

hazel_violin_7581

School has started again for teachers, so weekdays are back to me leaving before 7 and seeing him for an hour in the evening. But my school gives us most Saturdays off and my partner has clinic, so Saturday is just the two of us. Market in the morning, kutty's nap, a long walk to look at buses. I feel a bit guilty saying it's the best day of my week, since my partner misses it. Does anyone else have one parent who gets the 'good' day? How do you share it out?

I had Wednesdays with my daughter for years because of my timetable. Don't feel guilty. Tell your partner what you did, in detail. That's how you share it.

Details, yes. I've started sending photos of every bus he waves at. Possibly too many.

Why guilty? Does your partner mind, or are you assuming? Ask. Plenty of people who work Saturdays are glad someone else has the toddler.

Checked with my partner last night. They don't mind the Saturday. They mind that he naps better for me. So that's the real issue.

the nap thing evens out. my daughter napped only for me till about two and then only for my partner, for no reason anyone could work out
