Park with a sandpit and some shade around Narsingi or Manikonda? He'd dig all day if we let him

cobalt_sparrow_3264

Our 2 year old has discovered digging. Flower pots, the caregiver's tulsi, the bag of potting soil on the balcony. We'd love somewhere he can dig properly, ideally under trees, since by 8 am it's already hot. The park in our community has one slide and one swing. Anything nearby with a sand area that's kept reasonably clean? Happy to drive 15 or 20 minutes for it.

Can't suggest anything on your side, we're in Secunderabad. When ours was that age and the park sand had glass in it, we bought two bags of washed play sand and put it in a big plastic tub on the balcony with a lid. Lasted three years. Sand in every corner of the flat, but she dug for hours.

The lid is a good idea, our building has cats. Where did you find washed sand, a garden nursery or a toy shop? I'd still like an outdoor one for weekends, but this would get us through the summer.

We are in LB Nagar, so I cannot suggest a park near you. One point from experience: the public sandpits near us were lovely at 6.30 in the morning and full of wrappers by evening. If you find one, go early. Has anyone tried the newer parks on the Outer Ring Road side?

seconding early mornings. also, from someone who removes things from small ears for a living, every summer brings in a sandpit or two. a hat with a proper brim helps more than you'd think

'Full of wrappers' describes almost any public sand. What matters is whether anyone rakes it. Ask the park staff when it's cleaned before you make it a weekend habit. If nobody can tell you, that's your answer.
