Our 2 month old falls asleep to one Kannada film song. My partner says it's time I learnt a real lullaby

Two months in, and the only thing that reliably puts him down at night is me walking up and down singing the same old Kannada film song. Badly. He's out by the second verse. My partner thinks I should learn a few proper lullabies before he gets attached to this one. My mother has offered to teach me hers on a video call. I suspect it's already too late. What did you end up singing, and did it matter what?

The song matters less than the voice, I think. Our daughter fell asleep to my partner reciting multiplication tables, of all things, because it was the only thing that came out in a steady rhythm at 2 am. Learn your mother's lullaby anyway, though. Not for him, for you ❤

ours got two film songs for a whole year, the same two, every night. my son is 14 and still hums one of them over his homework. doesn't matter what. matters that it's yours.

ten years on and i still can't sing. what worked for us was a short list, three or four songs in the same order every night. he stopped caring about the words early. the order he still remembers
