Only 10, and already the oldest at his after-school centre by three years

he's been going to the same after-school centre in manikonda since he was 6. this year everyone from his batch left and the next oldest child is 7. he's polite about it, but he calls it 'a baby place' and spends the three hours reading in a corner. we both work till 6. my mother covers when the centre is shut but can't do every day. what did you do for the 3 to 6 slot once your child outgrew these places? he's not ready to be home alone and neither am i.

Same gap in our house when our younger one was around that age. What worked for us was stitching together two things on alternate days, a sports academy close to home and a supervised study room at a tuition centre, with our caregiver collecting her in between. It was more logistics than a single centre, but she stopped being the oldest child in the room. I would check whether any academy near you runs a 4 to 6 batch on weekdays.

alternate days hadn't occurred to me. there's a football academy ten minutes away, i'll ask about weekday batches. the logistics are what worry me, but that's a worry for later
