Nursery forms with a page for parents on 'why this school'. Does anyone read it?

lilac_kettle_9569

We have a son of a few months, so this is all far off, but a friend showed me the nursery form she filled last week for her daughter. Along with the usual details there was a full page headed 'Why do you want your child to join us?', to be written by the parents. What do schools do with this? Does it feed into the decision, or is it a formality? I don't mind writing it. I'd rather understand the purpose before it's our turn.

Daycare form had a 'why us' box too. I wrote two lines, nobody mentioned it 🤷

We filled three of these for preschool last year. One school brought up what we'd written in the parent interaction, so it clearly wasn't only a formality there. The other two never mentioned it. I'd write it plainly, in your own words, and not overthink it. You can't control what they do with it anyway ❤️

My guess: some schools use it to see how the parents write, and so how much help the child will get at home in English. Nothing like that is written down anywhere, so asking won't get you a straight answer.
