Nodded off in a client review last week. How did other dads get through the first months at work?

Our daughter is three months old. My partner and I split the nights, and I take 2 to 5 because I can sleep a bit later before leaving. Most days it works. Last Thursday it didn't. I drifted off for a few seconds in a client review, on camera, and someone asked if my connection had frozen. How did you manage work in these months? Did you change your shifts, talk to your manager, or just push through until the baby slept longer?

With our second, I told my head of school plainly that mornings would be rough for a few months and asked to keep important meetings after 11. Nobody minded as much as I feared. The frozen-connection line is a good one though. Save it for emergencies.

Why are you on 2 to 5 if you're the one with morning client reviews? Swap if your partner's mornings are lighter. Or split it 10 to 2 and 2 to 6, so each of you gets one unbroken block.
