My school day starts at 7.30, so I'm up at 5. Now my toddler is too

I teach, and on weekdays I'm out of the house by 6.45. For the last three weeks he wakes the moment I get up, around 5, and he's done for the day. Then he's exhausted at daycare by noon. I've tried getting ready in the dark and creeping around. Does anyone have an early-start job and a toddler who sleeps through it?

fellow teacher here. i stopped fighting it. she gets the 5.30 to 6 slot with me, my partner gets bedtime. it's the only quiet time i get with her on school days

try switching off your phone alarm and using a watch that vibrates. some kids wake to the alarm, not to you

Does he go back to sleep if your partner goes in to him? Or is it you specifically he's waking for? Asking because we'll be at this stage soon ❤️

My younger one wakes at 5.45 whatever we do. What helped a bit was keeping the first half hour totally boring when she does wake. Lights off, no talking, milk in the dark. Some days she drifts off again, most days not, but it's better than it was.

in our house it turned out to be the geyser switch. click, and she was up. we got an electrician to move it, problem halved

My son also woke very early when he was small, because my husband leaves for the shop early and the door makes noise. We tried putting him to sleep later at night, it didn't help. Only after age 3 he started sleeping longer by himself.
