My 7 year old has learnt the word 'anxiety'. He now has anxiety about broccoli

Picked it up from a cousin over the holidays. So far he has anxiety about broccoli, the bathroom tap, and going back to class 2 in June because 'the fans are slow'. I'm a psychiatrist. I have chosen not to comment.

My son learned 'tension' at that age. Everything was tension. Homework tension, dal tension. Now he is 12 and it is 'stress'. Same thing, new word.

In our house it was 'fracture'. Every bump, for about a year. I stopped correcting him after he informed his grandmother that her knee was 'basically fractured'.

my 8 yr old has 'trauma' from a sock seam. our teenagers at school use it exactly the same way so i've decided it's just the word of the decade

Ours went through 'allergic'. She was allergic to bedtime for most of last year. I wondered whether to explain the real meaning, and in the end one short explanation was enough. The word stayed, but it got used a little less.

Allergic to bedtime is a good one. I'll give it a few weeks. If broccoli is still a clinical concern by June, we'll talk.
