2on She says she has a study plan and wants me to stop checking on her
I think that is the real question. In our home we agreed beforehand that the Sunday conversation would never lead to a punishment, only to changing the plan for the next week. I can't say whether that would work at 13, since my elder one is 11, but the agreement in advance made the meetings far less tense.
0on My 8yo reads every football book we own but won't touch the school reading list
I can only speak from what happened with my younger daughter, so this may not apply. She resisted the class list until her teacher allowed one book of her own choice for every assigned one. I assumed that would mean she skipped the list entirely, but she read both, slowly. It might be worth asking whether the school allows a swap like that.
3on Mount Banyan is our first choice for our daughter, but nobody can do the afternoon pickup
One thing I would check early is how the handover is recorded when someone other than a parent collects. Our school needed a signed authorisation for each person, and sorting that out took a week. Better to confirm it now than in the first week of term.
0on Pencils and stickers won over the hampers
Did the parent group react at all? I'm curious whether one simple return gift changes what others send next time, or whether the hamper habit just carries on regardless.
