Moving to a bigger flat in October, mid-pregnancy. What did you do yourselves and what did you hand over?

We're in a 2BHK in Kondapur and the lease ends in October. My partner wanted to renew for a year and decide after the baby. I'd rather do it once, now, while I can still go up and down stairs without thinking about it, and we've now told the landlord we're going. The plan is a 3BHK nearby, so there's room for a caregiver or for family to stay. So the decision is made. What I'm less sure about is the doing of it. Packers for everything, or only the heavy things? How much can I realistically take on, and what did you wish you'd sorted before moving day rather than after? If you moved during a pregnancy or around a small baby, what would you change?

We moved when our daughter was four months old and I wouldn't recommend it. Nothing was where I needed it at 3 am for weeks. So I'd say you're picking the better side of it. Label one box 'first night' and keep it in your own car.

We may be doing the same thing in Kondapur. Did you use packers, or do it yourselves?

We also moved with a small baby, and for us the bigger problem came later. We picked the new flat for space and then found every preschool we liked was across the main road. If you're moving anyway, look at that too.

      Replying to @breezy_crayon_830

Schools, yes. Also hospitals. We once moved for a 'quieter area' and the nearest casualty was 40 min away. With a teenager who plays football, that mattered.

Middle months of my partner's pregnancy for us, and it was the right call. My partner directed and I carried 😄 The one thing I'd change: we unpacked the kitchen last and should have done it first.

Kitchen first, noted. My partner has also been told about the carrying ❤️
