Mosquitoes in the evenings, and a 9 month old who's on the floor till bedtime

We have a net over the cot at night and that part is fine. The problem is the evenings. She crawls everywhere from about 5 until bedtime, mostly on the floor near the balcony door, and that is exactly when the mosquitoes come in. The plug-in vaporiser smell bothers me in a closed room with a baby. Mesh on the balcony door is on our list, not done yet. What do families with crawlers actually use in the evenings? I'd like to hear what you did, rather than what the packaging recommends.
