ananthagiri is the answer everyone gives, which is also the problem. go early or spend your morning behind half the city on the ghat road

we keep it under 90 mins when there's a small one. the nap happens in the car on the way out, so plan your first stop around when she wakes. carry a change of clothes for both, not just the baby

Think about the shape of the day before the place. An hour each way, one walk, lunch, back. When ours were small, the outings that worked had shade and a clean toilet; the view was a bonus.

Late, but: Mrugavani near Chilkur. Close enough that if the little one melts down you are home in forty minutes. My grandson enjoyed the walk more than spotting anything.

late to this. at that age we gave up day trips in the rains. lots of car, little fun. a long breakfast somewhere on the outskirts was the outing
