Looking at Alkapuri Model School for nursery, though we'd always assumed CBSE

ivory_notebook_9951

We had always assumed CBSE because it's what we both know. But I visited a few smaller schools recently and liked how unhurried some of the State Board ones felt in the little classes. Alkapuri Model School in Kothapet is one I'd like to know more about. The trade-off as I see it: a calmer start, against a possible board switch later if we move him at class 1 or 3. For anyone who has been through this, does the board matter at nursery and LKG, or only later? And if anyone knows Alkapuri's nursery, how does the day run there?

What do you mean by 'unhurried'? Fewer worksheets, a shorter day, smaller classes? Those are school-level things, not board-level. A CBSE school can be calm and a State Board one can be a pressure cooker. I'd separate the two questions.

Agree they're separate. Our older one did State Board nursery and LKG and moved to ICSE for class 1. The switch at that age was a non-event for her. The bigger change was the size of the school, not the syllabus.

At nursery the board barely shows up in the classroom. It's mostly the school's own rhymes, play and early letters. Where it starts to matter is the reading and writing pace around UKG and class 1. If they let you watch a nursery class in session, do that. You'll learn more in twenty minutes than from the prospectus.
