Is a 50-minute children's play too much for a 3 year old?

There's a puppet play for children this weekend at a small theatre on our side, listed as 3 years and up, 50 minutes, no interval. My son sits well for stories at home, maybe 15 minutes at a stretch, and he's never been anywhere where the lights go down. Tickets aren't expensive, so it isn't about the money. I just don't want his first theatre outing to be the one he remembers as scary. Better to wait a year?

Took my elder to something similar at about that age. She lasted 25 minutes and then started narrating the plot loudly to the row behind us 😂 We'd picked aisle seats near the door, so leaving was easy and nobody minded. She still talks about the crocodile puppet. Go, just sit where you can slip out.

Aisle near the door, noted. Did the dark part bother her at all? That's the bit I'm unsure about.

      Replying to @linen_balcony_2148

Our son was nervous for the first few minutes when the lights went down last year. We took him on a lap instead of his own seat and he settled once the puppets came on. He watched to the end, mostly from my lap. I would not wait a year for that alone.
