Home baby scale for weekly weight checks: useful, or a recipe for weighing him four times a day?

gentle_violin_6447

Our son is a month old. The paediatrician wants to see his weight going up steadily for the next few weeks, so we're at the clinic every Saturday. My partner wants to buy a baby scale so we can track at home in between. I know myself. I will weigh him before and after every feed and make a spreadsheet 🤷 Did anyone buy one and find it useful, or did it just add worry?

We didn't buy one, and at five months I'm glad. The clinic weights were enough for us. A friend who had a home scale said the number moved by a lot depending on how much the baby wriggled, which only made her more anxious. If you do get one, weigh at the same time of day and only write down one number a week.

one number a week is the bit that matters. we had one with our first and my partner weighed her before and after feeds for a month. with the second we never took it out of the box.

We had one. Useful for the first six weeks, then it became the scale we weigh suitcases on. Borrow one if you can.
