His grade 4 project is on cricket scores. The teacher wants something 'deeper'

Each child picks their own question for the term project. My 9 year old chose why some batsmen score more at home than away, and turned up with three pages of numbers he'd collected himself. The teacher has suggested he pick something 'deeper', water or waste, like most of the class. He is deflated. I can see her point, sort of, but it's the first school thing he's been excited about all year 😄 Do I help him make the case for cricket, or let him go with her suggestion?

Our daughter's class 4 project was on the IPL auction, and her teacher also thought it was shallow until she worked out which teams had overpaid. Help him find the bigger question inside it, pitch, crowd, travel, and let him make the case himself. I say this with a teacher for a partner 😄
