Her classmates want her class 9 notes over the holidays, and she has started saying no

Even in the holidays the class group is busy. Three friends have asked our daughter for photos of her class 9 science and maths notebooks so they can 'revise before class 10'. Last year she sent everything to everyone. This year she said no to two of them and now feels terrible about it. Her reasoning: she spends hours on those notes, and the same friends never share theirs. Fair. But she's 15, and these friendships matter to her more than marks do. As a teacher I see this from the other side every year. As her appa I don't know whether to back her or nudge her to be generous. Her amma says let her decide and stay out of it 🙂

I'd back her, with one suggestion. Saying no to the notes doesn't have to mean saying no to the friend. My son ended up offering to explain topics on a call instead of sending photos. The ones who wanted to learn took him up on it, the ones who wanted a shortcut drifted off. The second group was never going to share theirs anyway. Staying out of it, as her amma suggests, is probably the other half of the answer.

Told her about the call idea at dinner. She liked it more than she'd admit. One of the two has already fixed a Sunday call for chemistry, the other has gone quiet, which I suspect tells her what she needed to know. I've been instructed not to ask how the call goes.
